Liberty Motorsports was founded by its principal Jim Liberty in 1986 to engage in vintage Porsche restoration, concours preparation, vintage racing and appraisals. His love of the 356 began in the late '50s at his dad's restoration shop, where Porsches were the specialty.

Jim had a short-lived racing career with the SVRA and runs on East coast tracks such as Watkins Glen, Pocono, and Summit Point. Ultimately his interest turned to restoration and the show car circuit. His cars competed at dozens of events, including PCA Parades (first and second place), 356 Holidays (first place) every year from 1989 through 1997, and dozens of local shows. During this period Liberty Motorsports was selected by Allstate Insurance to perform appraisals for their evaluations on 356 cars in upstate New York. He was often engaged in bicoastal pre-purchase evaluations.

Relocation to Southern California in 2000 led to the founding of a full-service restoration and mechanical repair facility in Orange County. Jim specializes in full restoration for clients in the western states, and as far east as New York. All mechanical and metal repair/paint prep is done in Jim's shop. Upholstering and painting are performed within a block of the facility. His is a true "boutique" business, with low volume and attention to detail, whether it is a fuel-injected 356 "Outlaw" or a fully-documented Twin Grill Roadster (the last in existence), that completed a full restoration in the falll of 2008. Or just show-quality engine re-builds.

Jim caters to the knowledgeable, discerning owner-collector. He personally manages every aspect of all phases of work and stays in close communication with his clients.
